Nighttime Rome - a quieter place, trodden by like-minded souls who enjoy exploring this darker face of the city, passing seductive restaurants lit up from inside buzzing with chatter. This private tour is bound to make an impression!
We are fascinated by the idea of ghosts (or entities) and have had several unexplainable experiences over the years, so it was obvious for us to create this tour. And as always happens, research leads to more research and then discovery, until we found ourselves researching Rome’s witches, which proved extremely fascinating…it was a side of Rome we hadn’t thought about before. So a new and unique tour was created, weaving together mystery, legend, witchcraft and factual history.
This is not a typical ghost tour such as the ones you might be familiar with in the UK or the US but you will visit several very intriguing authentic sites and learn yet another facet of Rome's uncomfortable past and the destinies of several of its key figures. You will hear how history has shaped our ideas of witchcraft and sorcery from Roman times through to the Middle Ages and other fascinating and shocking facts that make up a part of Rome's lesser talked about history.
Some of the places you will visit on this tour: Campo de' Fiori, Piazza Farnese and the Jewish Ghetto, plus several fairly creepy alleyways. You will have great photo opportunities at Castel Sant'Angelo, Ponte Sant'Angelo, Ponte Sisto and Piazza Navona, which are illuminated at night. Over the years (even in the recent past) a small number of people have claimed to have encountered spirits in the very places along our route. The "storyteller" will aim to bring the characters and periods to life, narrating these sad, mysterious and often gruesome tales at specific points along the route.
At the conclusion of your tour you can hypothesise further on the existence of spirits with a beer or a late night snack in the spookiest pub in Rome, dating back to the 1400's, located not far from Piazza Navona, or we can point you in the direction of the nearest taxi rank or pizza restaurant.
