Just for the months of November & December we have created this festive tour for families with young children, or for anyone who still loves the magic of Christmas!
"We are better throughout the year for having, in spirit, become a child again at Christmastime.” ― Laura Ingalls Wilder
This day trip is all about Christmas cheer and everything that goes with it. Our destination is the countryside to the north of Rome, travelling approximately 90 minutes away. In these outlying towns and villages you notice a much more festive atmosphere with the pretty village lights and the smell of wood smoke from medieval chimneys filling the air.
There are three main stops during this trip including a visit to Santa's Christmas Kingdom where children can write a letter to Santa, meet some of the elves and maybe even sit on Santa's knee, visit the grottoes full of Christmas decorations and gifts. We will have a chocolate tasting at one of the territories best hazelnut & chocolate factories with chance to purchase. They also make special edition chocolates for Christmas. Our third stop will be to the magical medieval quarter of Viterbo to their Christmas Village & Nativity, which is a large affair since Viterbo's medieval quarter is the largest in Europe and the nativity is the largest in the world. There are many attractions for all ages and in particular for the parents you can try the delicious vin brulé (warm spiced red wine) and purchase food and snacks from various wooden kiosks or local artisan crafts. On account of the time of year we suggest a hearty lunch so we have several places that we'd recommend, but if you prefer to enjoy take-away (such as pizza, crepes, sandwiches, pies etc. as we stroll around, that is good too - just let us know your preference when you book.
This is a private tour for your family only, accompanied by local English-speaking experts.
