Visiting Gaeta is like stepping back in time. It has been home to artists and writers of the 20th century and continues to have an air of the 1930's about it. Famous also for its Tiella and olives.
SAMPLE ITINERARY- All of our private beach trips require an early start so we generally pick you up at your accommodation at 7am. The route is attractive once we are out of the city and we break for a 'second breakfast'/refreshment stop, approximately midway between Rome and our destination. However, this trip is the farthest from Rome so we may make 2 stops along the way.
Highlights of this trip include the Turk's Cave and the Split Mountain & Sanctuary. There is a lot of walking and climbing up and down stone steps at these attractions so we would run this tour as early as possible in the morning in hotter weather. There may also be chance to explore Monte Orlando as far as the Mausoleum, with amazing views of the entire gulf. After visiting the morning sites you have time to explore the Medieval old part of Gaeta, passing the Ulysses Riviera National Park, and finally spending the afternoon relaxing on a private beach.
We have two beach options - our favourite rustic 'castaway' beach with minimal facilities, or a luxurious well-equipped beach club with its own private stretch of beach and an outdoor swimming pool for you to enjoy.
For lunch you have a choice of dining in Gaeta old town or more leisurely at the exclusive beach club.
Departure time back to Rome would be around 4.30pm arriving in Rome around 7pm.
All of our beach trips can be further tailored.
NB* we don't run this tour at weekends in August.
This excursion requires a full day.
Unfortunately the Turk's Cave and Split Mountain are not suitable for people with physical disabilities.
If you suffer in the heat we would suggest you choose the Sabaudia & San Felice Circeo option.
*Just for Two*
This year we have decided to offer a special 'couples' rate, when there are just two adults on the day trip. Select "JUST4TWO GAETA" from the menu on our contact page.
