You might not own a vintage car but driving on the famous Mille Miglia (1000 Mile) route - especially if you choose to do this mid-May when the actual race takes place - is a quirky alternative to regular sightseeing and something very different to tell the folks back home!
This unique driving tour takes you on some of the region's most attractive roads following the exact 3rd Leg of the 2018 Mille Miglia route [routes are often slightly changed year on year] from Rome towards the Tuscany border and includes panoramic views of two of Lazio's largest volcanic crater lakes. Depending on the precise details of your personalised tour you could be enjoying breakfast overlooking the Vallelunga race track, lunching overlooking Lake Bolsena or tucked away in the Medieval Quarter of Viterbo town followed by coffee in Viterbo's oldest coffee house [Viterbo has the largest number of original medieval buildings in Italy] or tasting cheese in a small artisan cheese shop in the attractive hill town of Montefiascone.
If you prefer to drive yourself we can arrange for this to be an 'Escorted Driving' itinerary where you are the protagonist in your own tour but this does require you to have your own vehicle!
If you book this tour to coincide with the actual Mille Miglia [usually mid-May] we would have an early start in order to see them all come through the check-point at Ronciglione and follow on behind.
The length can be tailored to fit your schedule but the section of the route we propose would require 8-10 hours.
As this is a tailored experience, prices will be depended upon inclusions, time/distance, any guided visits, and so forth.
The start location can be from the centre of Rome at your accommodation or outside of Rome at a suitable meeting point. For the return to Rome, we can escort you all the way back in (for an escorted navigation through the city traffic), or we can bid each other farewell at a designated point or other location to fit with your schedule.
How It Works
The Route Options
We will eventually have two variations of this historical vintage/antique car race. The routes both afford beautiful scenery, plus great food & wine alone the way.
